CHILD AND ADOLESCENT MENTAL HEALTH SERVICE

ABOUT THIS PROJECT

A new Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) facility will be built at Nepean Hospital to meet the health needs of young people aged between 12 – 17 years old living in Western Sydney and the Blue Mountains.

In February 2023, Donnelley Constructions was appointed to deliver the new purpose-built 10-bed treatment facility, which will be located next to the Nepean Mental Health Unit.

Co-designed by young people and their families, the facility will provide a comfortable and safe place to receive the very best therapy and support, and will help staff better respond to the individual needs of young people.

Following an extensive design and engagement process, the CAMHS facility will feature:
  • 10 single bedrooms with ensuites
  • a secure indoor communal area and private outdoor courtyard
  • consultation rooms
  • nurses’ station and workspaces.
Construction, which will start with demolition works, is scheduled to get underway in 2023.

The facility is part of the NSW government’s $700 million State Wide Mental Health Infrastructure Program (SWMHIP), which supports the delivery of mental health care reform in NSW.
