PROJECT ZONE NEWSLETTER

Nepean Redevelopment

September 2024

This month, we provide an update on the Stage 2 community arts project, Budding Builder competition, as well as construction works on the new Stage 2 building and Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services Unit.

Stage 2 construction update

The Stage 2 construction site is a hive of activity. Excavation works at the site of the new Stage 2 tower building is almost complete which will be followed by the first pour of concrete to make the ground slab of the new building.

The team is working with CPB to finalise the remaining detailed design elements including the landscaped courtyards and green spaces surrounding the new Stage 2 tower building.

Stage 2 community art project

This week, community members and Nepean Hospital staff participated in art workshops to create their own superhero with 'healing powers'. Led by renowned artist, Vipoo Srivilasa, the “Power Healer Superhero Project” brought the community together over four drawing workshops to explore the healing power of stories, experiences and imagination.

Selected works will be incorporated into the arrival staircase leading to the main entrance of the new Stage 2 building.

Thanks to everyone who participated in this fantastic collaborative arts project to help create a welcoming and vibrant Nepean Hospital.

Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services Unit construction update

Construction of a new Child and Adolescent Mental Health Unit (CAMHS) is progressing well. Boring and piling works at the site of the new Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) Unit are now complete as the builders prepare to pour one of the two concrete slabs.

When complete, it will feature a dedicated 10-bed unit for young people aged 12 to 17.

Humans of Nepean Redevelopment - Meet Lyn

Lyn Aussel is an integral part of the Nepean Redevelopent team where she provides high level administration services which includes everything from managing diaries and keeping records of important documents to staff rostering and organising events.

"I need to have a broad knowledge of office systems and procedures, be able to prepare documents for meetings, manage diaries for a number of the team and ensure that deadlines are met," Lyn said.

"Communication is a key part of my role as I am often the first point of contact and need to liaise with the team to ensure everything runs smoothly.

"The best thing about my role is you never really know what you’re going to get each day, especially in Redevelopment. Things change very quickly and you need to be able to adapt and think about solutions in a short amount of time."
