Closure of access to Block N (North Block) from Cancer Care Linkway

• In preparation for the demolition of Block N and construction of Stage 2 Tower, access to North Block via the Cancer Care linkway will be closed from Tuesday 18 April 2023.
• Staff will be able to use swipe access to enter Tower A through the western entry following the route shown in blue (pictured below).

• Work is underway in and around Building D (North Block) to establish the Stage 2 construction site. 
• This will include some demolition works in the coming months. 
• To progress Stage 2 enabling works, a number of trees in the area between the Cancer Care linkway, Tresillian, Nepean Redevelopment project office and Somerset Cottage were removed. Click here for more information. .

• Refurbishment works in the old birthing suites (Building D) are underway.
• This space is being repurposed for Hope Cottage and staff accommodation. 

• From Monday 8 May, works will take place in the ICU storeroom and meeting rooms between 7:00am - 6:00pm.
• Noise and dust control strategies are currently in place.
• The project team is working closely with ICU staff to minimise noise disruption during the works, which will continue for 6-8 weeks..

Wednesday 10 May - Friday 9 June: Upgrades to Block D (South Block) hot water system

• New Thermostatic Mixing Valves (TMVs) are being installed on Level 05, South Block.
• During installation, fixtures connected to the TMV will have no water for a period of 5 hours.
• Only the direct fixtures attached to the cold and hot water lines of the specific TMV being installed will be without water for 5 hours. For example, in the markup below, when TMV 1 is installed, the areas highlighted in blue will lose water for 5 hours. When TMV 2 is installed, the purple section will lose water for 5 hours.
• Users will be directed to utilise alternative amenities during installation.
• There may noise disturbance to surrounding offices during this time but contractors will work with users to ensure minimal disruption.

May 2023

• Hoarding has been installed in the East Block corridor between the Disposal Room and Chapel.
• This is to allow for the demolition of a section of the wall which will become the entrance to the new temporary corridor into Building A as part of Stage 2 enabling works.

Traffic conditions have changed around Building E (East Block) where the new Pathology Department is being built. A secondary pedestrian crossing with pram and wheelchair ramps has been installed, as well as a boom lift near the Oral Health building leading to the Building E patient drop off zone. These changes will be in place until June 2023.
