A number of trees located in the area between the Cancer Care linkway, Tresillian, Nepean Redevelopment project office and Somerset Cottage will be removed this month because they are within the construction zone of Stage 2.
No. The Nepean Redevelopment engaged an arborist, who identified which trees could remain based on their proximity to construction, how healthy they were, their significance to the local flora and fauna and their life expectancy.
Unfortunately, large trees cannot be relocated. However the mulch from these trees will be used to nourish gardens around the hospital campus. Any shrubs or bushes that can be relocated and are identified as significant to the area or hospital will be relocated in consultation with the hospital gardeners. This includes any plaques and benches etc.
Yes. The redevelopment is creating more usable greenspace for the hospital and has a comprehensive landscaping plan. As a result, more trees, plants and shrubs will be planted than removed during the redevelopment, with a focus on local, native flora.
There is limited opportunity to rehome plants. However, interested staff can email nepeanredevelopment@health.nsw.gov.au if they have any queries about this.
